Sheridan Street and Overall Baby
I was getting ready to ship out a Sheridan Street sweater to a client, and I realized I'd never posted the lovely photos of this sweater taken by Jane at Janey Pie Photography. It's unusual for me to get images back from a photographer and love every single one, but that was the case with these. So I'm excited to finally share then.
The Sheridan Street sweater was designed to match the adorable Corduroy Flower Pops overalls from one of my favorite Etsy shops, Overall Baby. I've bought many pairs of overalls from Jenny at Overall Baby as shower gifts so I can voucher for their quality and high cuteness factor.
This is also a good time to remind folks that I can design a sweater to match most outfits, so if you want to pair a special outfit with the perfect sweater, I would love to work with you to create something fantastic.

Snow Day!
For years now, I've been secretly hoping for pictures of a Yellow House Knits sweater in the snow. And these pictures of Spencer in the new Rittenhouse Street sweater were worth the wait! They look so perfectly outdoorsy with the colors of the sweater and rustic bridge and the woods in the background. I especially love that last one, where he seems to have an expression of pure joy. Can't help but wonder what he's thinking! Thanks so much to Spencer for finally making the snow pictures happen!

Color Block Sweater in Pink
I've posted a new sweater on Etsy, the Albermarle Street sweater. This sweater is essentially a girls' version of the Kennedy Street sweater, which is one of my best sellers. I've had the Albemarle Street sweater on my to do list for forever given the popularity of Kennedy Street, but other priorities kept getting in the way, so I was so excited to finally get around to it. I had planned to put the white block on top, so it had sort of an ombre effect, but at the very last minute I made a switch and moved the white to the middle. It was definitely the right call. It was a good reminder to trust my gut. Hope this one is as well-received as Kennedy Street.
Special thanks to Christina Anglum Photography for the gorgeous photographs!

Street Level: Appleton Street
It's been a while since I posted an installment of Street Level. Today we go to Appleton Street in Northwest DC. Appleton Street is a relatively short residential street in the Tenleytown neighborhood, characterized by lovely brick houses and well-tended front yards. As I drove the street, I imagined houses filled with rowdy kids, barking dogs, and happy families. Birthday parties, movie nights with popcorn, hide and seek in the back yard, and embellished school uniforms. Basically, quintessential Americana.
I took these pictures last year just as winter was giving way to spring. You can see signs of the changing season in the pictures below--the Easter wreath, the first crocus. Given the wintery weather we're having in DC as I type this, maybe I'm subconsciously hoping spring is on its way again this year.

Belt Road Revisited
I'm about six months late in posting these, but I wanted to share two examples of the Belt Road sweater in different colorways. I love when clients start with my designs and then tweak them to make the sweaters their own, and these are two really great examples. The possibilities really are endless.
The original is on top, and the variations are below. In the first variation, the client wanted a nautical theme. So we chose the red, navy, gray, and white color scheme, and I had the navy anchor buttons designed to match. In the second variation, the client wanted the dominant color to be the teal in the original sweater, so we moved the colors around and swapped navy for purple. Because we used the same gray, we kept carried over the buttons from the original. I was thrilled with how they both turned out, and--more importantly--the clients were too!

Color Wheel Sneak Peak
Sneak peak of the colors for the Cleveland Park collection, due in spring of 2015! You'll definitely notice a different "vibe" to this collection--the colors are all a smidge muted. But I promise the sweaters will still have that classic Yellow House Knits style and spirit!

Great Gift Ideas
I spy the Macomb Street sweater in DomiCile's first ever gift guide! So many great gift ideas in those pages, all made locally in the greater D.C. area. Would it be wrong to buy a few gifts for myself?
