Great Gift Ideas

I spy the Macomb Street sweater in DomiCile's first ever gift guide!  So many great gift ideas in those pages, all made locally in the greater D.C. area.  Would it be wrong to buy a few gifts for myself?



YHK in DomiCile Magazine

I was delighted to wake up on this Labor Day morning to the new issue of DomiCile magazine, a digital magazine focused on life in greater Washington D.C.  And I was even more delighted to see the Jenifer Street and Kalorama Road sweaters featured in photo spread on shopping local for kids' fashions.  The sweaters look adorable, and I love that so many great kids' items are made right here in the nation's capital!

Yellow House Knits was today's Designer of the Week on the {KID} independent blog.  The lovely review featured the Belt Road sweater (pictured below).  I had a blast talking with Indi at {KID} independent about how Yellow House Knits came to be and about my philosophy as a designer and knitter.  You can see the whole feature and review here.

YHK Featured on Scoutmob

Have you heard of Scoutmob?  It's sort of a Daily Candy-meets-Groupon website with some very cool content.  I was excited to learn that Yellow House Knits was featured on Scoutmob yesterday, as part of a feature on options in the D.C. area for sweaters for Sweatertember (I SO wish I'd thought of that!).  Check it out here! 

YHK in the Etsy Look Book

I'm SO excited that the Potomac Avenue sweater was featured in the Fall 2012 Etsy Look Book.  There are some gorgeous things in the look book (I want one of each, please), including a lot of really great stuff for kids, so I'm really flattered to have been included.  You can see the whole Look Book here. 

Artizen Magazine Feature

I just learned that the Chesapeake Street sweater was featured in the August issue of Artizen magazine.  This issue focuses on handmade items for kids and includes some great clothing and toys.  You can see the whole issue here.  I'm flattered to be included with some other beautiful products!

I'm excited that the Chesapeake Street sweater is featured today as a "cute find" on Cuteable.  Go check it out--and be prepared for a ton of cuteness.  The blog is aptly named!  I read it regularly and I'm aways excited to see what new things Lynsey and Matt will find. 

Inside the Yellow House in the Washington Post Express!

So I'm on the Metro this morning on my way to work, merrily making my way through the Express.  (For those of you not from D.C., the Express is a free newspaper published by the Washington Post that distills the day's news down to the highest highlights.)  Anyway, I'm flipping through the paper and I pause on the "Blog Log," which is where they post quotes they've pulled from bloggers about (mostly) what's going on in the pop culture world.

I notice that there's something about the Post's Peeps diorama contest.   I read that the blogger doesn't "know how people come up with this stuff, but [she's] so glad they do."  "Wow," I think to myself, "that sounds eerily similar to what I wrote yesterday."  Then I do a double-take and am stunned to see that it IS what I wrote yesterday. 

That's right, the Post apparently enjoyed my coverage of the contest.  I was so surprised that I started laughing out loud on the Metro.

The real irony here is that I rarely pick up the Express when I take the Metro because I get the Post at home.  And this morning, I was this close [fingers held together] to taking a cab to work because I was running late.  If I'd done either this morning, I would have missed it.  Looks like the stars aligned! 

I'm definitely keeping a copy for my scrapbook!

Warm and Yummy

I was so excited to see that the Somerset Place sweater was featured in last Thursday's issue of Fresh Baked, the newsletter published by the Australian blog KID Indepdendent.  The newsletter "features cool indie and handmade gear for kids, along with fun competitions and a few of our favourite new products."  If you're not familiar with the KID Independent blog, do take a good look--even if you don't live in Australia.  The editors have a real knack for picking out charming and unqiue products for babies, kids, and moms.

Remodelaholic Feature

Remember the post on my "updated" back patio?  (If you missed it, you can find it here.)  Well, it was just featured on Remodelaholic, which is one of my favorite blogs!  I love seeing all of the great things people do with their houses.  I'm amazed at some of their ideas.  Such fabulous creativity.  Please check it out here, and spend some time browsing the blog.  I promise you'll experience "remodel envy."

My living and dining room makeover were featured on Remodelaholic today!  I'm so excited.  I always ogle at the beautiful renovations highlighted on this awesome blog, so I'm so flattered for my house be included among the featured renovations.  (And, of course, I'm so grateful for all of the generous and wonderful comments I've recieved here on Inside the Yellow House!)

Fire Treasury

I am LOVING this gorgeous treasury, featuring a Yellow House Knits sweater.  It's ironic that just the other day I commented about how popular that sweater is. 

Anyway, this one was made my Dana as an entry in the Treasury Challenge over at Claire and Janae.  Janae picks an item for sale on Etsy and those who enter have to design a Treasury that includes the item.  This week's item was the beautiful lemon drop pendant in the top row.  I think Dana did a fantastic job (and not just because I'm included!).  The winner gets a nice prize--this week a $20 Target gift card--plus a bonus if the Treasury makes the Etsy front page.  I took at look at the entries thus far and there are some other stunning ones.

One of Sweet Fancy's Favorites!

I was browsing through Fallon's lovely blog, xxsweetfancyxx.blogspot.com, and saw a Yellow House Knits sweater featured as one of her Etsy Favorites. What a nice surprise! If you want to see it live, act quick because Etsy Favorites can be fleeting!
