Baby O is one fashionable young lady in her Jenifer Street sweater and leggings (although those boots are giving the sweater a run for its money in terms of kid style!)  Wonder what's caught her attention?

 

Third's a Charm

Kasey sent me this picture of her daughter in her Primrose Street sweater.  It was a gift a few years back for her older sister, and this little sweetie is the third one to wear it.  It makes me so happy to hear about YHK sweaters being passed down through families like that--I love that they're so loved!  Seeing so many adorable little ones wearing my creations is one of the greatest thrills--seriously!

Me and My Baby

Look at this sweetie with all of her dollies in her Yellow House Knits sweater!  You may remember that I posted a picture of this sweater not too long ago.  It's the Porter Street sweater in purple.  I love it even more now that I see Miss H. posing in it.  (Do I detect a hint of mischief in those pretty eyes?)

Christmas Angel

Love this little Christmas angel modeling her Yellow House Knits sweater.  This was originally a custom order for her older sister, but it looks just as adorable on #2.  It makes me so happy to see these pictures.  Best Christmas present!!

 

Street Level: Quincy Street

For this installment of Street Level, I went to Quincy Street in Northwest and Northeast D.C.  I'm really enjoying this little project for a lot of reasons, but particularly because I've stumbled upon places in the city that I never knew existed.  This time it was the Franciscan Monastery, which came as a complete surprise to me.  It's this gorgeous compound (for lack of a better word) in the Brookland neighborhood, with shrines and gardens and even a one-room Hermitage where regular people can have their own personal overnight retreat. 

Quincy Street follows the same theme as so many streets in D.C.--it is broken up into a series of street fragments.  I found that each one has its own personality.  The far west segment is essentially part of Rock Creek Park, whereas the next segment, which is also the longest segment and runs through the heart of the Petworth community, feels much more urban.  The Brookland segment feels almost suburban at times. 

Without further disucssion, onto the tour.  (Apologies for the delay in getting them up.  You can almost feel the summer heat in the pictures . . . what a long way from the single-digit temperatures we had today!)

Radiant Orchid for 2014

Pantone has just announced that its color of the year for 2014 is Radiant Orchid!  I love this choice, because I feel like purple was MY color of the year for 2013.  It features prominently in the Friendship Heights collection, and just last week I posted a picture of the Porter Street sweater in shades of purple.  So I'm thrilled to see more purple for the coming year!

Porter in Purple

Here's the Porter Street sweater done in shades of purple, instead of the blues it usually comes in.  I love how ladylike this sweater is, with its single button at the top and ruffle all the way around.  For this sweater, I used the middle color as the anchor (the color for the cuffs, neckband, and ruffle), rather than the darkest shade, as in the Porter Street sweater.  Good thing too, because the ONLY button I was able to find that looked good with these colors and this style was dark purple, and it would have gotten lost on a dark purple neckband.  In any case, changing up the colors gives it a very different look, and I like it! 

 

 

P.S.  I bought a couple extra purple buttons, so let me know if you want this color combination for yourself!

A Perfect Match

Wow, I've really fallen off the blogging bandwagon! Must be because I've been so busy with sweater orders (which is a GREAT thing!).  I'm happy to jump back into it by posting this fabulous sweater I just mailed off to Michigan for Baby A.  I hope it will help keep her warm during those Kalamazoo winters!

 

I am head over heels for the colors in this sweater.  We actually started with the buttons and worked backwards to select the colors in the sweater.  Are they perfect or what???  I especially like the pop of darker turquoise in the sweater, which is not in the buttons but adds an additional dimension to the finished product. 

 

It's not obvious immediately, but if you look closely, you'll see that this sweater is actually the Quincy Street sweater with different colors.  Love, love, love it. Hope Baby A does too!
